How To Care For Your Patient:
River otters need the following to survive: food, water, and shelter. River otters live on land, but they also need close access to water. They can hold their breath up to 8 minutes and primarily eat aquatic organisms.
Due to learning survival skills from their family, young river otters in rehabilitation need to be around other river otters.
Perform observations on your river otter to assess their recovery and ability to hunt on their own.
